In the midst of the storm, Paul took leadership of the situation, and encouraged those around him: -by the Word of God (we must know the Word and know how to apply it)

-by his faith in God and in the reliability of the Word (as we live by faith people see the reality of God in us)

-by practical, common sense (living by faith does not exclude a practical approach to needs)

-by his example (he lived out what he taught and advised)
